Sample Preparation Workshop
Matrix effects such as grain size effect, mineral, and chemical effects and specimen surface conditions are the most common causes of inaccurate XRF analysis results. Correct sample preparation technique will drastically reduce matrix effects and minimize analytical errors.
This workshop will provide an overview of common sample preparation techniques – borate fusion, powder braquetting, surface conditioning, and cryogenic milling, currently used in XRF analysis. Practical hands-on exercises supplement lectures.
